Mountain biking
At an altitude of 2000m, the Vanoise national Park is best discovered on foot, at walking pace.

Apart from the agricultural tracks, the tracks are mainly just foot-paths, made for walkers, and often following long-established mountain-trails.

Some parts of the Park may seem suited to mountain-biking. Biking, however, disturbs the fauna and causes considerable erosion to paths and damage to plant cover. For these reasons, mountain-biking is forbidden in the Park, except on certain agricultural tracks.
Having both cyclists and walkers on the same paths is not very safe, as the paths are generally narrow, often steep, and of course rescue is difficult in the case of an accident.

If you want to go mountain-biking in the park, you can use authorised tracks in certain villages:

·At Aussois, Bonneval-sur-Arc, Champagny-en-Vanoise, Pralognan-la-Vanoise, Termignon, Tignes.

For more information, contact the Tourist Offices or the main offices of the Vanoise national Park at Chambéry (parc.national@vanoise.com).

In the peripheral zone of the National Park, there are plenty of paths where you can go mountain biking. For further information, please visit the websites of the tourist offices (at the following page: Links).
