| Flowers are
the reproductive organs of plants. |
|
|
  |
If they are
cut, their seeds can not develop. Picking a flower may result in the
whole plant being uprooted. The bulb of a plant is more likely to
rot if the stem is torn. In the case of a tree, the sap circulates
close under the bark, and carving initials on the tree may eventually
kill it. It is therefore vital to avoid picking flowers and damaging
trees. |

National law protects endangered
species throughout France, and in some regions, but in the Vanoise
National Park, ALL picking and gathering is prohibited.
You may be disagreeably surprised to see a cow or a sheep eating the
very flower that you would have like to have picked. In fact such
animals do not make the same selection as we do, and they often have
a beneficial effect on floral diversity. |
|
If you really want to make a bouquet of
wild flowers in the central
zone of the Vanoise National Park:
- Don't ! Use a camera instead- outside the central zone of the
park, don't pick protected species; just pick one or two flowers
of a species, and only where they are already abundant.
